Full-time vs Freelance model? It’s an “and” not an “or.”

We call it Core + Crowd

In 2015, we launched our Core + Crowd model. The Core consists of our full-time employees who drive client brands and the agency forward. The Crowd are the freelancers who come in on occasion with their pointed talents to bolster the team.

"Freelance” used to mean exclusively creative people. There were no real freelance strategists, and certainly no account people. They got hired to work 100% on a brand. But now, whatever you want to call it, fractional, freelance, part-time, it basically means people contracted to work for a limited time period in all areas of the business.

This clearly makes sense now with all the project work and constant personnel turnover. Agencies can’t be sitting on big payroll. Equally, clients can’t be paying for workers to hang around and wait to be called onto the brand. Our Core + Crowd model has always proven to be a win-win for both the agency and clients. We’ve even taken it beyond the usual suspects. The Crowd can be poets, fashion designers, doctors, bartenders, whoever makes sense for the project.

Welcome to the new world. “New” for us since 2015.
