When you have a low budget, you need a highly interesting idea to have any chance of breaking through.

Without that interesting idea, it’s an uninteresting idea made with low-budget production. Not good.

You can’t just throw a celebrity at it, buy a Beatles song or blow something up. And honestly, that never works any way. It adds a little glitz sauce, but everyone knows the entrée below sucks.

I’ve learned you need the right-size idea for the budget. You can’t produce a $1000 idea for a hundred bucks. It will come off compromised and cheap-looking. You need a simple idea that can be brilliantly executed for $100.

And that takes a lot more creativity than spending more money does. Anyone can do that.

PS: This is not me telling clients to give us less money. The best work is the highly interesting idea with the proper budget to produce it brilliantly. 😊
